SOUR CREAM POTICA
(From "Women's Glory")
Dough Ingredients:
6 cups flour
2 cups milk
4 eggs, beaten
1 tablespoon salt
1 large cake yeast (2 oz.)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
Filling Ingredients:
1/2 lb. white raisins
1 egg, slightly beaten
8 ounces sour cream
1/2 stick butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Dough Directions:
Sift flour, add salt. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water with 1 tablespoon sugar. Let raise.
In double boiler, dissolve butter, add beaten eggs, sugar and milk. Beat with egg beater for a few minutes. When warm enough, pour this mixture into flour, add yeast, and make a dough by beating with a large spoon until very smooth. Cover dough and let raise until doubled.
Filling Directions:
Roll out dough 1/4-inch thick on a floured board. Roll into oblong shape. Spread dough with slightly beaten egg, then with sour cream. Sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon and raisins. Dice the 1/2 stick butter over entire dough. Roll up dough, cut it into two lengths, and place each one in a 4x12-inch buttered pan. Let raise one hour. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, then lower heat to 325 degrees for remaining 40 minutes.
