BAKED STRUKLJE
(Samsula Cookbook)
Icebox Dough Ingredients:
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 pint sweet cream
1/4 cup warm milk
4 cups unsifted flour
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 lb. butter, melted
1 tablespoon sugar
4 egg yolks

Filling Ingredients:
4 egg whites
Vanilla to taste
1-1/2 cup sugar
1 cup ground nuts
Dough Directions:
Mix yeast, milk and sugar and set aside to rise. Mix melted butter, egg yolks, sweet cream, flour, salt and sugar together; add yeast to mixture. Mix until a smooth dough. Make dough into 4 rolls. Cover and put in refrigerator overnight. The next day, roll out a roll as thin as for pie crust. Spread with filling. Then roll, very lightly, into a cylinder and place in a greased 9x13-inch pan crosswise. Repeat process with each roll of dough and place them all side by side in baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.

Filling Directions:
Beat egg whites. Add sugar and vanilla to taste. Then fold in nuts and spread on dough. Roll very lightly, not too tight.
